Summer Math Tutoring

"Why are there letters in my math?!"

Math Tutoring: Reviews, Previews, and Summer Homework

For parents who want their students to build or maintain math skills, we offer summer math tutoring for any level. We can bring our own materials or work from a book you have.

Algebra: "Why are there letters in my math?!"

Algebra is the basis of math success for any class. Rather than enter the school rusty, have your student spend a few hours reviewing how to move numbers and variables “across the equal sign,” rules for positive and negative numbers, graphing lines and certain other functions (slope, y-intercept), and more.

Math Facts and Elementary Math

Students must, must, MUST have their math facts down cold by fourth grade. Without a rote memorization and instant recall of math facts, math is just plain tedious and tough! Depending upon your child's grade, we'll do math drills and explorations.

Through games, activities, and mini-quizzes, we teach pre-K through second graders addition, subtraction, time, simple word problems, and more.

Based upon the homework we see, incoming fourth graders need to be experts at math facts, including multiplication and division facts through 12. This becomes even more crucial by grades five and six.

Geometry

(Only recommended for students who want to get ahead or are repeating the class at school or online. Others will tune out.)

Geometry is essentially algebra with vocabulary; without mastery of the terms, a geometry student will be lost. We will preview crucial geometry terms, create study aides to help in the upcoming class, and review algebra.

NOTE: If your student is taking the online BYU class to repeat geometry for Santa Margarita Catholic High School, DO NOT wait until the end of summer to start it! The online class covers some material that is not in the regular class. There is quite a bit of homework to complete, and the material must be learned well because the final is taken in class, not online. We speak from experience!

Arithmetic/Pre-algebra/Algebra

These are the foundations of math success for any class. Rather than enter the school year rusty, have your student spend a few hours reviewing decimals, fractions, percents, word problems, basic equations, and standard formulas. Math just doesn't need to be that frustrating!
