Foreign Language Practice Uh...How do you say, "I forgot that" in Spanish?
Small group language chats Don't let your child lose that vocabulary! Instead, let him or her practice--in the company of pals, and with the support of a friendly tutor--at a coffeeshop, restaurant, or your patio. These sessions alternate English and foreign language (Spanish, French, or German) in 10-minute rounds. The group will chat about movies, music, magazines, whatever, alternating English and another language. While no writing is required, students are encouraged to take notes on the information they need to improve their fluency.
“Swiss Cheese Languages” (Recommended if student scored below 85% in the last class.) We will go back and fill in the holes in the student’s understanding and use of the language. Speak it, write, play games…have a solid grasp when school resumes. Have to repeat a language class this summer? A tutor will reduce frustration, answer questions, pace the class, and check for understanding.
