About Our Tutors
Clarity Learning recruits a variety of tutors so that we can match each student’s academic, personality, and scheduling needs. While some tutors are credentialed teachers, the majority are current or former college students from various majors. Many of these tutors have teaching experience through such programs as AVID, LARC, and the Learning Assistance Program at Saddleback College. While we know there are many brilliant high school students who make excellent peer tutors, we do not hire high school students (please apply as soon as you graduate and enroll in college!).
I personally interview every tutor and confirm his or her references and background before making any placements. When I meet with a tutor, I am looking not only for content knowledge but also for a sense of humor, stories of personal development, and personal philosophies on learning and teaching. Each tutor demonstrates two lessons so I can ascertain how he or she presents material and what types of students he or she could best serve.
